A metal keyboard is an instruction and data input device used to operate computer equipment, and also refers to a set of function keys arranged by the system to operate a machine or equipment (such as a typewriter, computer keyboard). The keyboard is also a part of the keyboard instrument, and can also refer to the instrument that uses the keyboard, such as the piano, digital piano or electronic organ, and the keyboard helps to practice typing. Taking the most common electric contact key keyboard as an example, this paper introduces the whole process of removing, cleaning, and installing the all-metal keyboard.
Step 1: Pull out the keyboard connector
Shut down the computer, and then pull the keyboard connector (the general PS/2 interface keyboard connector is purple) from the host. Flip the keyboard on its side and tap it gently so that dust and debris fall automatically.
Step 2: Remove the keyboard cover
On the back of the keyboard is generally a relatively large number of fixed screws. Insert the Phillips screwdriver into the fixed screw position and turn it counterclockwise to unscrew it. Then unscrew the other fixing screws one by one, and place the screws uniformly.
Then put the keyboard face down, in the seam of the mouse back panel with a flat head screwdriver, you can more easily remove the shell, then you can see the internal structure of the keyboard.
Step 3: Clean the film
When you open the back panel of the keyboard, you can see three layers of film embedded in the bottom plate. The three layers of film are respectively the lower contact layer, the middle isolation layer and the upper contact layer. The upper and lower contact layers are pressed with metal circuit connections and round metal contacts corresponding to the keys. The middle isolation layer is a transparent film with round holes corresponding to the upper and lower contact layers. Remove the film from the keyboard, gently brush the dust or dirt near the key side with a dry cloth or brush, or wipe with water and then air dry. If there is oxidation in the round metal contact of the film, it needs to be wiped clean with a rubber.
Step 4: Clean the keys
All keys of the keyboard are embedded in the front panel. There is a layer of rubber pad between the three layers of film on the bottom plate and the keys on the front panel. The protruding part of the rubber pad corresponds to the key embedded in the front panel. To send a key signal.
However, when taking out the key, pay attention to taking out the rubber pad first, and then use a screwdriver or other driver to pull the key from the bottom. However, we should note that in some large keys (such as: Shift key, space bar, Enter key, etc.), there will be a metal bar, this metal bar is mainly used to fix the key, so take out this key time to be careful. But when you take out the keys, be sure to remember the position of the keys on the keyboard, or you can’t install the keyboard later on, don’t blame me for not reminding you. After all the keys and rubber pads are removed, they can be wiped with a damp cloth and air dried. If the keys are dirty, you can also add detergent to scrub them.
Step 6: Clean the inside and outside of the keyboard
Remove the circuit board from the base, and then wipe the front panel, back panel, and base of the keyboard with a brush or damp cloth. Especially in the front panel and the joints of the keys, there will be more dirt gathered, and it may not be easy to clean with a wet cloth, so it is recommended to clean with a cleaning machine.
Step 7: Install the keyboard
After the keys, rubber pads, films, and panels are completely cleaned and air-dried, they can be installed. First of all, the keys are installed in accordance with the inverse method of the previous removal (note that the position of the keys should correspond to the position on the keyboard, and the direction should not be reversed). Then put the circuit board back in the base and arrange the wiring. Then the rubber pad corresponds to the key one by one and is placed in place. Then put the three layers of film on the rubber pad, and determine whether it is placed in place, usually on the base there will be some prominent screw hole position, we just align the round hole on the three layers of film one by one with the screw hole position on the base. It is recommended that you hold up the keyboard when installing the rubber pad and film, so that the installation is easier and the components can be installed in place. Finally, cover the rear panel and tighten all screws to complete the removal, cleaning and installation of the keyboard.
